Job Summary

The Greater Nashville Regional Council (GNRC) is seeking an experienced professional to direct its Department of Aging and Disability Programs. The Department’s responsibilities include 1) planning and coordination of state/federal investments into programs and services aimed at improving quality of life for senior adults across the region, 2) coordinating services among a network of senior centers and providers, 3) providing counseling/ assessments to help Middle Tennesseans enroll in programs and services, and 4) monitoring the performance of grant funded programs to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements.

GNRC is the regional council of governments for Nashville and surrounding counties and serves as one of nine regional economic development districts established by the Tennessee General Assembly in 1965. GNRC also serves as the region’s state/federally‐designated Area Agency on Aging & Disability (AAAD), working in close partnership with the TN Commission on Aging and Disability (TCAD) and TennCare. Job Responsibilities

The primary duties of the Director include:

  • Manage GNRC’s Aging and Disability program staff and work activities to include outreach and counseling, public guardianship, program monitoring and reporting;
  • Participate as a member of GNRC’s staff leadership cabinet along with the executive director and other department heads, advocating for the needs of the Department as necessary;
  • Serve as the public face of GNRC’s Aging and disability programs to increase the region’s awareness of the growing challenges associated with maintaining quality of life for older adults;
  • Build and strengthen partnerships with external partners in the public and private sectors engaged in advocating or caring for older adults;
  • Diversify and grow revenue streams to support enhanced promotion/marketing of programs and to increase delivery of services;
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal requirements, including those related to the Older Americans Act, that are a condition of grant contracts; and
  • Stay abreast of local, state, and federal policy‐making initiatives which have the potential to impact programs and services for senior adults, engaging as necessary.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be a critical thinker with a dynamic and engaging personality, strong communication skills, a solid understanding of industry practices, a demonstrated ability to build partnerships, and a track record of delivering results for clients.

A Master’s degree in Business or Public Administration, Public Health, Social Work, or related field is preferred, along with at least three years of managerial experience. A Bachelor’s degree and five years of professional experience, three of which must include supervisory duties, may be substituted for the Master’s degree. Foreign degrees and credentials will be considered.  Position open until filled, but candidates must apply on or before February 21, 2020 in order to receive full consideration.
