Job Summary

Preston Taylor Ministries (PTM) is a Christian-based non-profit organization that exists to provide safe and fun neighborhood programming for kids to learn and grow. Programs include after-school tutoring, summer field trips, seasonal sports, one-on-one mentoring, Bible studies, camps, and more. These programs for kids are supported by PTM staff, community and parent volunteers, and generous donors who support the work of PTM. PTM exists to help kids discover and live their God-inspired dreams, develop a love for learning, and build joy-filled friendships that glorify Christ Jesus.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Advancement will be responsible for expanding the reach of Preston Taylor Ministries by developing a comprehensive development plan and increasing the fundraising capacity of the organization. Job Responsibilities

Executive Leadership 

  • Cast vision and provide oversight for the annual strategic plan at PTM and continually evolve the organization’s development strategy to fulfill the mission. 
  • Demonstrate innovation, problem-solving, active listening, and community building while being a brand ambassador of Preston Taylor Ministries. 
  • Train, coach, and mentor the advancement team of employees responsible for fundraising and volunteer coordination. 

Revenue Development/Fundraising 

  • Cultivate relationships with top donors, direct capital growth campaigns, increase corporate giving, build planned giving initiatives, and direct fundraising events for Preston Taylor Ministries. 
  • Dream big and pursue innovative ways to increase and expand PTM’s base of support. 
  • Ensure effective systems are in place to monitor and evaluate fundraising efforts in order to effectively meet fundraising goals and communicate outcomes to the board, funders, and other constituents. 
  • Provide oversight for all fundraising events at PTM including dinners, lunches, golf tournaments, year-end events, and all other special events.  
  • Provide oversight for all advancement communication including direct mail, newsletter, digital communication, and social media. 
  • Provide oversight for the grant writing process and vision for expansion. 

Volunteers 

  • Set a vision for the community outreach strategy at PTM in order to expand and cultivate volunteer support.  
  • Oversee the Mentorship Coordinator as they manage mentorship programs for PTM kids such as lunchmate mentorship, dinner and Devo, snack-chat, half-time, and breakfast and bible study. 

Qualifications

  • 7+ years in advancement, development and fundraising
  • 3+ years with community outreach and volunteer coordination
  • 1+ years of experience within a non-profit, church, education, or another relevant environment
  • Ability to occasionally work evening and weekend hours when required
  • Ability to cultivate strong relationships with the board of directors, volunteers, donors, staff, and students.
  • Bachelors and/or Masters in related field preferred
