Job Summary

The newly forming Tennessee Community Health Workers Association (CHWA) of Tennessee, sponsored by the Tennessee Disability Coalition, seeks a part time director.   The director will be responsible for managing the statewide association, including building CHW expertise and leadership skills, creating a credentialing program, and advocating for effective policies and reimbursement for CHW work. The director will be part of a team including a committed steering committee, content consultant, and non-profit fiscal sponsor, working to launch and grow the new association.  The director must be based in Tennessee, and may work remotely across the state. 

Job Responsibilities

Principle Duties:

  • Development and implementation of a fundraising program which supports salaries and other expenses of the association.  Includes grant development, maintaining relationships with funders, ensure timelines for grants and projects are met, generating other strategies to financially support the association
  • Work with the steering committee to identify and pursue additional funding, establish a membership program and governance structure, and incorporate the associationManage the day to day operations of the association
  • Maintain and develop relationships with agencies and partners across the state to promote CHW goals
  • Represent CHWA to the community, funders, members, and government officials, attend relevant conferences and meetings
  • Educate and engage stakeholders and community members about community health workers and the goals of the association
  • Participate in the development of a credentialing program
  • Work with the fiscal sponsor to manage finances, prepare reports, and communicate with CHWA leadership
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Five years minimum leadership experience in nonprofit management, public health, or related field
  • Must be detail-oriented, accurate, motivated, proactive, and able to meet deadlines.
  • Able to plan, prioritize, and complete tasks with minimum supervision.
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders including government, healthcare, and private sector
  • Strong communication skills, oral and written
  • Proficiency with technology
  • Able to interact effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultural traditions
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain trust
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and compassionate health care
  • Excellent writing, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
