Job Summary

Habitat for Humanity Williamson-Maury (HFHWM) is a faith-based, nonprofit organization with the mission of creating partnerships to build and repair affordable homes, develop stronger communities, and provide life-changing opportunities for qualifying residents in our community. 

The Development Director is responsible for raising funds by identifying, engaging, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding current and prospective donors to advance the HFHWM mission. The Development Director is responsible for meeting annual revenue goals by creating new partnerships and growing current relationships with individuals, businesses, faith communities, government entities, corporations, civic organizations, and foundations. The Development Director reports to the VP of Development.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work with the VP of Development to create and execute an annual fundraising plan, including developing annual revenue goals and budgets for individual contributions, grants, sponsorships, and events. Monitor and regularly report on progress to Leadership Team.
  • Work with the VP of Development to build and lead an active, engaged, and productive  Development  Committee. Take meeting notes and follow up with committee members on prioritized action items.
  • Build relationships with WCAR, HBAMT, and others in our community who support home construction, home sales, and critical repairs, through outreach, visits, and presentations.
  • Build relationships with current and prospective subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to solicit in-kind donations of labor and building materials.
  • Write grant requests, seek individual and planned giving partnerships, build corporate and foundation relations, solicit and steward current donors, and identify and cultivate potential supporters. 
  • Attend relevant community meetings and networking events to support fundraising efforts.
  • Maintain CRM database, ensuring donations are accurately entered and acknowledged in a timely manner.
  • Serve as an example of organizational culture by following policies and procedures, assisting other team members as needed, and positively representing HFHWM at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, or nonprofit administration and 3+ years of progressively responsible experience in donor cultivation, grant writing, and special events required.
  • Commitment to HFHWM’s mission and the ability to work respectfully with all people.
  • Decisive and resourceful, with the ability to gain the support and of the Board of Directors, homeowners, donors, and the community at large.
  • Dynamic, energetic, flexible, and adaptable work style.
  • Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher), and Google Apps. CRM experience a preferred.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • A high level of professionalism, tact, and confidentiality is a must.
  • Self-motivated with a proven record of setting and achieving ambitious, measurable goals.
  • Experience working with Middle Tennessee philanthropic community, especially in Williamson County is preferred.
  • A strong interest or background in affordable housing, housing development, or community development is a plus
