Job Summary

The development coordinator is an integral part of the development team supporting new prospective member sales, managing new member sales renewals, onboarding new members and overall member retention. Strong sales mindset and organizational skills combined with great customer service and client/prospect communication are essential for overall success. This position collaborates with VP, Member & Investor Relations, Chief Growth Officer, and Member Development Manager in managing prospect pipeline and increasing long-term membership retention. This position directly interacts with members, prospects, and callers from the public to serve as the first point of contact for new and prospective members and directly assists in converting prospect referrals of future members, generating direct impact to new member revenue.

Job Responsibilities

New Member Development

  • First point of contact for the membership team to facilitate inbound leads for member sales development.
  • Research, develop and maintain a robust prospect pipeline with a view to organizational goals and Chamber value proposition with member recruitment and retention, in mind.
  • Support development sales strategies to exceed member recruitment goals, including qualifying sales leads, first- and second-year member follow-up with recurring touchpoints, billing setup/inquiries and new member engagement.
  • Activation and processes of all new members (campaign & development) into the Chamber sales database working directly with the member relations team and finance department.
  • Maintains prospect tracking and provides direct support to VP of Member and Investor Relations and Member Development Manager during sales campaigns.
  • Develop prospect metrics with VP, Member & Investor Relations including sales, member visits, calls, and member conversions.
  • Develop and execute strategic prospect email strategy (using various media and publications) to acquire new members.
  • Exhibit discernment and support in helping to close membership sales.
  • Develop referral process for new member prospects.
  • Responsible for onboarding all new members for their first and second year.

Member Retention and Revenue Management Culture

  • Assist Chamber members in taking full advantage of member programming, business resources, and networking opportunities.
  • Accountable for new member retention goals by contacting assigned members to maintain relationships and obtain renewal.
  • In coordination with the Manager of Member Engagement, communicate opportunities for engagement and involvement to new Chamber (first and second year) members.
  • Promotes and makes recommendations regarding the features and benefits of the Chamber that best supports a member’s business strategy.
  • Attend Chamber events to build relationships with members in effort to strengthen their connection to the Chamber and promote interest in Chamber membership.
  • Ensure financial performance of new member acquisition and retention to meet quarterly and annual revenue goals.
  • Collect and submit member spotlights to the Marketing and Communications team.
  • Maintain Manage Chamber Chat event page and track new member and prospect registrations as well as other relevant logistics to support Manager of Member Engagement.
  • Coordination of successful logistics and execution of ribbon cuttings for new members.
  • Resolve member problems or complaints in accordance with established policies and procedures, while ensuring excellent customer service.
  • Cross-train with other Member Relations staff to make sure all tasks function seamlessly in someone else’s absence (vacation, etc.)
  • Maintains confidentiality of member information.

Strategic Initiatives

  • Support the implementation and management of a comprehensive, Chamber-wide revenue culture, with an emphasis on customer experience and value creation.
  • Support initiatives which enhance value, quality, speed to market, agility and simplification to build a stronger and more sustainable organization for all members providing balance between the following: Revenue generation 65%, Relationship building 35%.
  • Other duties as assigned by VP, Member & Investor Relations.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferred
  • 2-3 years of sales, marketing or customer service experience, preferably in membership or association organization
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Excel, Word and social media, preferred
  • Experienced with prospect management and customer relationship management software
  • Ability to prequalify sales leads and knowledge of sales process is a plus

  • Must have the ability to drive to appointments outside the office
