Job Summary

Our organization, NBIC, is seeking a full-time Development and Communications Manager with extensive fundraising skills, marketing knowledge, and excellent communication abilities. The Development and Communications Manager will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing NBIC’s fundraising efforts, including corporate and foundation giving, individual giving, and coordinating with special fundraising events. They will also be responsible for overseeing the development and execution of communication strategies to support development strategies. The ideal candidate will have experience in nonprofit development, major gifts development, grant writing and management, the cultivation of individual donors, and experience managing donor records within donor software. Additionally, the candidate should possess exceptional storytelling abilities to effectively communicate the impact and mission of NBIC to stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities

  • Partner with the CEO,  Board of Directors and staff to establish fundraising goals and strategies to meet and/or exceed revenue goals.
  • Oversee the implementation of fundraising strategies, including maintaining an active portfolio of current and prospective corporate and individual supporters.
  • Develop and manage timelines for various fundraising activities to ensure strategic plans and critical fundraising processes are conducted in a timely manner.
  • Ability to solicit and close gifts of $25,000 or more.
  • Collaborate with related staff in writing, preparing, and submitting grant proposals to foundation funders, meeting submission guidelines and deadlines as required.
  • Ensure accurate data processing and acknowledgment of gifts and related fundraising activity relevant to the above-mentioned focus areas, coordinate gift processing, donor records management, and donor recognition.
  • Create monthly reports for the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
  • Participate fully as a member of the team, support sponsor solicitation by co-chairs and CEO, and manage and fulfill sponsorship benefits.
  • Work with the development team members and event chairs on strategies to increase sponsorship revenue and engagement from corporate donors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2-4 years related experience or an equivalent combination.
  • Related experience (including but not limited to) nonprofit development, marketing, PR, fundraising.
  • Knowledge of current trends in charitable giving in the areas of capital campaigns, major gifts, or planned giving.
  • Knowledge, use, and passion for the underserved community, a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and demonstrated ability to be an effective spokesperson and advocate for NBIC’s mission.
  • Systems and process management skills sufficient to manage a complex mix of revenue-generating activities.
  • Development skills to be channeled through email, website, socials, and donor updates.
  • Knowledge of the fundraising landscape in Middle Tennessee.
  • Weekends as needed
