Job Summary

TIRRC is seeking an enthusiastic Volunteer Coordinator to assist in growing and building a volunteer base for TIRRC’s narrative and belonging work. The Volunteer Coordinator will be tasked with assisting in volunteer recruitment, retention, and relationship building for a deep canvassing campaign. The Volunteer Coordinator will also help lead a team of Deep Canvassing Fellows in volunteer outreach. The Volunteer Coordinator will have the opportunity to participate in volunteer recruitment training with the New Conversation Initiative. Experience with deep canvassing is not necessary.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Narrative and Engagement Manager to build and execute a successful Deep Canvassing campaign;
  • Coordinate a vibrant team of volunteers;
  • Assist in building volunteer team through recruitment, retention, and relationship building;
  • Lead deep canvassing fellows in recruitment phone banking;
  • Train in volunteer base building with New Conversations Initiative; 
  • Learn the skills of deep canvassing and participate in canvassing, as time allows;
  • Build relationships with volunteers during deep canvassing training.

Qualifications

  • Belief in TIRRC’s mission and commitment to social justice;
  • Ability to manage and coordinate a team; 
  • Experience with volunteers is preferred;
  • Strong communication skills;
  • Ability to work on deadline, be highly organized, and manage multiple tasks with attention to detail;
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with diverse communities; 
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team;
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including most weekends during the campaign;
  • Fluency in English required;
  • Must have reliable transportation.

Additional Information

Benefits

Pay: $22 per hour, 15-20 hours/week from August 14-October 15, with potential for rehire in 2024.

Benefits: Part-time TIRRC employees receive paid sick time commensurate with the number of hours worked and access to the Employee Assistance Program.
