Job Summary
The Family Center is growing and looking for a dynamic, passionate individual to help manage our Parenting & Family Seminars!
The Coordinator, Parenting Seminars is integral in helping TFC pursue our mission of breaking multigenerational cycles of childhood trauma by working through a strengths based, racial equity lens, and providing evidence-based parent education, access to local resources and supports, and opportunities to develop community partnerships.
This position requires a forward thinking, proactive, and client focused approach to program delivery, including embracing curiosity as a means to learn and grow personally and professionally, greeting challenges with flexibility and a collaborative approach, and pursuing excellence in work products and community presence. The candidate we choose will also have:
- understanding of adult learning principles and instructional techniques
- practical experience delivering skill-based training to adult learners in a variety of settings
- superior communication, presentation, and group facilitation skills
- expertise and/or practice in one or more of the following subjects:
- Child Development, Trauma, Adverse Childhood Experiences and Resilience
- Change and Transition
- Social and Emotional Intelligence
- Stress Management, etc
Job Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- oversee all TFC’s family focused seminars (Coparenting; First 3!; Restoring Connections)
- ensure staff and volunteer coverage for facilitations and implement feedback processes for program improvement
- help identify seminar needs and create seminars to meet those needs (as appropriate)
- enter and update client information into TFC’s database regularly
- be open to new program initiatives and partnerships supporting TFC’s strategic direction
- engage collaboratively with TFC staff, volunteers, and community partners
- embrace & demonstrate core organizational values
- ensure all program activities operate within TFC’s policies including sensitivity and inclusiveness regarding cultural, religious, ethnic, gender and sexual diversity, and comply with relevant legislation and professional standards
This is a 40hr/week position that requires evening and weekend commitments throughout the year. Local travel is required.
Qualifications
Required Capabilities, Skills, & Knowledge:
- Master’s required in previously stated area
- bi-lingual in Spanish or other languages a plus
- in-home, correctional facility, substance abuse, school based setting(s} experience a plus comfort level and empathetic approach in working with vulnerable families
- ability to effectively interact, communicate, and collaborate with people from diverse racial, cultural, religious, or gender identifying backgrounds
- self-initiator, fast learner, team player
- excellent written and verbal communication skills
- confidence and competence in learning and using existing and new technologies
- capable of meeting challenging deadlines while “herding cats”
