Position Summary:

Consistent with the Christian mission and vision of the YMCA of Middle TN, under the Vice President of Operational Strategy, the Community Partnerships Director will be responsible for identifying, developing, managing, evaluating and sustaining effective community wellness partnerships and strategies for the communities the YMCA of Middle Tennessee serves. This position will be responsible for establishing and maintaining significant relationships with community residents and organizations from all sectors to make an impact on the overall sustainability of YMCA facilities, programs and communities.

Job Responsibilities

  • Models the YMCA core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility
  • Models and puts into practice behavior that supports inclusion and diversity
  • Engages community development principles to support the sustained relevance and effectiveness of the YMCA to address community needs
    • Serves as liaison/intermediary between the YMCA and the community and/or community organizations to facilitate better access to services offered by the Y and to improve the quality and cultural competence of service delivery
    • Coordinates and supports effective, collaborative community-based initiatives to support local residents, promote wellness and contribute to the overall sustainability of the YMCA
    • Conducts feasibility studies for models to improve the relevance and effectiveness of initiatives and manages related organizational change
    • Works with Association leadership and uses internal and external data to make critical decisions related to programming and community services offered by and out of YMCA facilities
  • Conducts assessments to ensure program offerings are high-quality and match and address community needs
    • Assesses resource needs of the YMCA, partners and community
    • Compiles data, analyzes data, and/or reports on trends in programs, facilities and the community, identifying issues and developing/recommending solutions
    • Collaborates with staff to ensure high-quality program implementation and performance when working with community partners
  • Oversees community partnerships, builds new relationships, engages diverse stakeholders, and creates ongoing dialogue around community wellness
    • Develops and negotiates contracts and MOUs with partners as needed
  • Participates in community events on behalf of the YMCA
  • Works with Philanthropy to identify new funding opportunities through partners and supports grant development and reporting as needed
  • Regularly works with YMCA facility boards, committees, task forces and leadership to communicate partnership strategies, processes, effectiveness, and opportunities
  • Helps develop and deliver content for training staff and partners as needed

Qualifications

  • Passion, enthusiasm, and commitment to the mission and cause of the YMCA
  • An enthusiastic personality with the desire to serve members, volunteers, guests, participants and staff to create a culture of service within our Centers
  • Strong interpersonal and professional communication skills and the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
  • Must be able to review and analyze data to inform strategies, processes and decision making
  • Must be highly organized and a strategic thinker with a strong work ethic who can manage multiple projects, budgets, and staff teams effectively
  • Must present a professional image and possess conflict resolution , critical thinking, and problem solving skills
  • Must demonstrate sound judgment, initiative, versatility, and independent thinking
  • Must be comfortable presenting to various audiences
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other software programs, as well as the ability to use most office equipment is required
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Bachelor’s degree required, graduate degree in Public Health, Business Administration, Community Development, Sociology or related field preferred
  • 2 years of management experience required
  • Project management experience preferred
  • Multilingual a plus
