Job Summary

The Communications Coordinator is responsible for advancing the brand of the organization through the website, newsletters, social media, and communications related to programs and policy priorities. This position reports to the Member Engagement Director.

Job Responsibilities

Communications Management

  • Serve as the liaison between other RHA of TN staff, members, and the public.
  • Collaborate with RHA of TN staff to develop monthly e-newsletters that include grants, announcements, and other information relevant to rural health leaders.
  • Design and create images for website, social media posts, and other documents.
  • Publish compelling stories, blog posts, social media copy, videos/multimedia and other content as required to public and members to RHA of TN Resources.
  • Write press release drafts and coordinate placement in various media outlets.
  • Post content on RHA of TN website, Resource Center, and Action Center.
  • Schedule automated email campaigns for workforce development programs.

Program Management

  • Proof and edit copy for all RHA of TN communications.
  • Develop strategies to promote and maintain peer-to-peer learning communities
  • Develop tools and communications for RHA of TN programs.
  • Develop tools and communications that can be repurposed by RHA of TN members.

Other Essential Functions

  • Work cross functionally with other RHA of TN staff to support all programs and organizational goals as identified by RHA of TN’s strategic plan and contracts.
  • Provide administrative support for maintaining internal communications and files.
  • Act as the internal champion for maintaining brand standards in all communications.
  • Create graphics and maintain website content, manage social media, and other externally facing platforms such as the Learning Management System and Congress Plus.
  • Attend relevant meetings and professional development workshops.
  • Assist with other projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree preferred with minimum 3 years of experience in a communications roll. Experience nonprofits or advocacy preferred, but not required.
  • Must be organized, detail-oriented, accurate, proactive, and able to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstration of excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, communication (verbal and written), project management skills required.
  • Proficient using technology.
  • Experience working with a high-performing and collaborative team.
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to improving health among rural and other minority populations.
  • Commitment to learning new things, developing as a leader, and providing exceptional customer service.
  • Flexible with ability to manage multiple projects.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with membership or volunteer-based organizations.
  • Experience with public health and/or policy campaigns.
  • Experience working with a remote team and remote management.
  • Experience working with task management applications such as Asana or Trello.
