Job Summary
Advocates for Women’s and Kids’ Equality (AWAKE) is a grassroots nonprofit organization that advocates for the advancement of women and kids in Tennessee through education and policy change. We are a collaborative and strategic organization that makes an impact through bottom-up and top-down approaches to change-making. This internship is designed to support our small team with critical tasks to further our mission and influence. If you are a creative with the ability to effectively communicate on various platforms, this is a role for you!
Commitment: June-August 10-15 hours/week of mostly remote work with virtual check-ins; opportunity to extend contract length beyond August
Compensation: $10/hour
Supervisor: AWAKE Executive Director
Job Responsibilities
- Daily management of AWAKE’s social media platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn, following a social media calendar and guidelines
- Assist in communications strategy creation and implementation in order to strengthen AWAKE’s voice and online presence; This includes but is not limited to social media content creation, copywriting for email communication, updating website content, digital content creation including photography and videography, and design of event collateral
- Maintain brand cohesiveness in all audience-facing communications
- Research communications best-practices from partner organizations
- Establish Google Ad Grants and SEO for the AWAKE website
- Build and maintain AWAKE’s media list as well as writing press releases when needed
- Participate in our educational programming and assist with volunteer coordination
- Attend board meetings and other special events if available
- Other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
- Experience managing social media platforms or running online campaigns
- Skilled at written communication and editing
- Competency with online platforms including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Later, Canva, Google Drive, Mailchimp, and Squarespace
- A committment to AWAKE’s mission and vision
- Understanding of intersectional women’s studies or gender issues highly encouraged
- Experience with graphic design and skilled in iPhone photography and video production/editing highly encouraged
