Friends of Mill Ridge Park (FMRP) is an Antioch, TN-based nonprofit with a mission to enhance and advocate for Mill Ridge Park to strengthen the community in southeast Davidson County. Our vision is a sustainable regional park offering an equitable outdoor experience for the community in southeast Davidson County. As an official partner to the Metro Nashville Parks Department, FMRP creates access to greenspace and outdoor services by providing year-round recreation and conservation activities incorporating education and cultural enrichment at the 622-acre Mill Ridge Park. Operating with a full-time staff, the organization is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. FMRP seeks candidates to serve as a Board Director for a two-year term starting in 2024. Job Responsibilities

Friends of Mill Ridge Park seeks to elect a Board Director(s) to serve on its Board of Directors consisting of 16 members. The Board Director shall be elected by a majority vote of the current members of the Board of Directors.

The Board Director shall serve for a term of two years and may be re-elected for up to three, two-year terms at the pleasure of the Board of Directors. The Board Director shall share the responsibility of establishing policy for and providing oversight of the operations of the agency.

The Board Director must attend a majority of scheduled meetings of the Board during their current term in order to be reelected for a subsequent term. Typically, there are six official meetings of the Board each year, lasting 90 minutes on average.

The Board Director is requested to participate on one or more committees of the Board. Board committees are established by the agency and meet multiple times per year, as needed. The Board Director is requested to give or raise an annual monetary contribution. The Board Director is encouraged to regularly attend and support agency activities and events.

Qualifications

Ideal candidates for the role of Board Director live, work, and/or learn in southeast Davidson County. They represent and value the diverse community surrounding Mill Ridge Park and are served by FMRP. They bring perspective, experience, education, and/or talent that will serve the mission of FMRP.
