Job Summary

Catholic Charities has an opening for the position of Assistant Director in our Refugee and Immigration Services Department. This position is full-time and located at the Catholic Pastoral Center at 2806 McGavock Pike, Nashville, TN 37214. Hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, though flexibility is required.

Job Responsibilities

The primary functions of this position are to perform administrative functions of the department with an emphasis on program design and oversight to achieve outcomes and ensure compliance. He/she researches and implements best practice policies and procedures, as well as data analysis and reporting. The Assistant Director develops and maintains cooperative relationships between the agency and other public sector service and educational agencies He/she supervises mid-managers as needed and deemed appropriate and provides indirect supervision to their staff.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Master’s degree and 5 years of management/supervisory experience in a related field OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree and 10 years of management/supervisory experience in a related field
  • Knowledge/experience in the field of refugee resettlement and associated services
  • Knowledge/experience with benefit programs/social service programs for residents of Nashville and surrounding counties.

Other Skills or Requirements:

  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office; ability to learn databases.
  • Attention to detail and adherence to deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, especially for supervision and to convey program knowledge.
  • Knowledge of human learning and an ability to adapt and use various methods of instruction for group and individual learning.
  • Ability to facilitate intercultural communication and to create an environment where differences are respected.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment, courtesy, and tact in dealing with the public and staff
  • Ability to handle confidential information with extreme professionalism
  • Ability to plan and organize work and to work well under pressure
  • Ability to follow tasks through to completion
  • Effective interpersonal skills including emotional intelligence, reliability, positivity, negotiation, empathy, and openness to feedback
  • Ability to work well as a team and independently with minimal direction
