Job Summary
Catholic Charities is a growing non-profit agency seeking a counselor for a joint role between our Pregnancy Counseling and Adoption Services department and Counseling department. We are looking for a candidate that would help revitalize and expand a long-standing program that serves children, adults, and families throughout the community. The ideal candidate will be someone looking for varied work experience who has the ability to innovate and work with a diverse group of clients. The candidate must be able to provide trauma-informed care for children and adults according to evidence-informed best practices and within agency guidelines.
This position is full-time, based in Nashville, and is located at the Catholic Pastoral Center located at 2806 McGavock Pike, Nashville, TN 37214. Agency hours are Monday through Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., but flexibility is required.

Job Responsibilities
- Provide counseling for expectant parents experiencing an unplanned pregnancy, assist with resources as needed for those choosing to parent or work with expectant parents who wish to make an adoption plan.
- Provide support to birth parents during and after placement.
- Provide home study services as needed for domestic home studies, evaluating individuals’ and families’ ability to parent a child through adoption using state standards for domestic adoption. Also providing training and counseling for potential adoptive parents.
- Maintains a schedule for when all post-placement reports are due and complete post-placement reports as required by the state of Tennessee or the child’s state of origin.
- Maintains a small caseload of adults, children, or families in one of our counseling programs.
- Maintain flexible hours to accommodate client’s needs including afternoons and occasional evenings.
- Conducts community outreach activities to promote pregnancy and adoption programs and participate in community planning related to the interest of the agency and services to our clients and their families. Develop and maintain community relationships with referral sources.
- Maintain a list of community resources and make referrals as needed.
- Completes 15 hours of continuing education annually or 30 hours every two years.
- Maintain accurate client/program records regarding services provided according to Agency guidelines, using the database(s) provided by the agency and within Agency’s time frame.
- Process billing for services rendered.
- Assists in maintaining department records and the closing of all adoption records to be sent to the State Department of Children’s Services.
- Actively participate in supervision sessions, periodic team meetings, and training.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- Bilingual English/Spanish highly preferred
- Master’s degree in Social Work or an equivalent degree in a related field.
- Possessing or working toward a license in Social Work or related fields from the State of Tennessee (e.g. LCSW, LMFT, MMFT, LMSW, LPC-MHSP) is strongly preferred.
- Minimum of one year of experience in adoptions, foster care, and/or counseling with children and adults.
- Knowledge of professional social work standards.
Other Skills or Requirements:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, especially for supervision and to convey knowledge.
- Good computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office software and tracking client data in a database.
- Strong organizational and customer service skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Detail oriented.
- Exercises good judgment.
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism.
- Shows initiative and works well independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability, interest, and willingness to work with diverse staff and clients.
- Ability to work collaboratively with co-workers and supervisors.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
