Job Summary

Consistent with the Christian mission and vision of the YMCA of Middle Tennessee, and in cooperation with other YMCA staff, under the direction of the SAS Revenue Support Specialist, the SAS Pathway Navigator is responsible for guiding YMCA families through the process of the certificate program of the Tennessee Department of Human Services (DHS).

Job Responsibilities

The SAS Pathway Navigator:

  • Models the YMCA core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility
  • Assist with spreading parent awareness through marketing materials and even special events that help parents understand the financial assistance pathways available to them
  • Contact parents of participants who may qualify for the certificate program or have already started it.
  • Create a database of applicants for the certificate program, which tracks their progress.
  • Provide consistent communication and process updates with parents.
  • Serve as a liaison between parent applicants and DHS staff, in an effort to expedite the certificate process.
  • Work with MarCom team and Director of Finance and Administration to market this offering to parents and proactively get certificate renewals and new leads.
  • Coordinate with SAS Support team to ensure DHS subsidies are entered into the CORE system.
  • Maintain communication with SAS Program Operations Directors and Area Directors on the status of their respective parents. Research problems and answer questions in regards to SAS accounts.
  • Prepare regular reports for leadership and program partners
  • Maintain all confidentiality and privacy policies related to applicant information.
  • Completes other duties as assigned

Superior supervisory skills and an enthusiastic personality with the ability to inspire and motivate staff, volunteers, members and participants to create a culture of service within our program sites

Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community

  • Must present a professional image and possess conflict resolution skills, and demonstrate sound judgment and initiative
  • Must be highly organized with the ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other software programs, as well as the ability to use most office equipment is required
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the YMCA brand, programs and services
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant subject area. A minimum three year’s work experience and/or training
  • Experience in case management required
  • Skilled in problem-solving and able to take initiative
  • Must present a professional image and possess a high level of interpersonal skills
  • Must be highly organized with the ability to work under pressure, in dynamic environments and handle multiple tasks
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Minimum 21 years of age

Certifications Required:

  • Before start of 1st shift: New Hire Orientation training
  • Within 30 days of hire: CPR/ First Aid/ AED
  • Must maintain annual training requirements
