Job Summary
Advocates for Women’s and Kids’ Equality (AWAKE) is a grassroots nonprofit organization that advocates for the systemic advancement of women and young people in Tennessee through education initiatives and policy change. Our theory of change addresses both bottom-up and top-down approaches to changemaking.
This new role is responsible for facilitating our primary education program, I Am an Advocate. The I Am an Advocate Program is an evidence based curriculum that aims to support participants in the development of interpersonal and self-care skills, sociopolitical consciousness, understandings of leadership, and communication and action planning skills essential to advocacy work. It is offered once a week over an 8 -12 week period in partnership with Nashville area nonprofits that serve youth in after-school programs and women survivors in residential programs.
The Program Facilitator will be responsible for facilitating a minimum of two I Am an Advocate partner programs concurrently per contracted semester.
Job Responsibilities
- Facilitation
- Facilitating the scheduled I Am an Advocate Programs concurrently per semester.
- Guide group discussions and activities using the provided curriculum
- Adjust the curriculum to fit the needs of the participants
- Oversee program volunteers assigned to the site by ensuring they are aware of the curriculum for the day and ways they can assist you.
- Data Collection
- Administer pre- and post- program surveys to participants and site coordinators at each partner site. Turn in all Data to the Program Director.
- Partner Engagement and Reporting
- Maintain a positive relationship with community partners
- Provide the Program Director with weekly program updates including challenges, successes and ideas for improvement.
- Other tasks as assigned by directors and board members
Qualifications
- Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in education, social work, or a related field
- High School Diploma or GED *Required*
- At least one year of experience teaching/facilitating programing to youth
- The ability to understand and respect values, attitudes, beliefs, and morals that differ across cultures and identities
- Effective time management and prioritization
- Must be available Monday -Thursday 3pm – 630pm
- Detail-oriented with proficiency working within online management systems and virtual platforms including Zoom and Google Drive
- Skilled communicator and relationship builder
- Commitment to the mission, vision, and values of AWAKE
