Job Summary
Work with clients exiting shelter to gain independance in 1 year. Work as a team with shelter case managers
Job Responsibilities
- Provide trauma-informed advocacy and case management, promoting an environment that honor’s the survivor’s experiences and choices in a way that assists them in achieving independent living, securing permanent housing, and gaining personal empowerment
- Assist victims in evaluating their level of danger (Danger Assessment)
- Reviewing safety plans related to their individual circumstances as the survivor’s safety is paramount in all services.
- Meet with transitional client once a week for two weeks after move-in date, every two weeks for one month, then once a month for 6 -12 months
- Work with the team to answer the crisis line when needed
- Provide active listening and supportive counseling that allows space for the client to regain a sense of control and attends to the specific roles of culture, community and spirituality in client’s life
- Practice self-reflection and cultural humility
- Assist client in assessing their strengths and identifying goals to becoming economically empowered
- Role model and educate client in problem-solving and conflict resolution techniques
- Provide budgeting assistance
- Provide access to financial advisor services from a trauma-informed perspective
- Encourage client to save money for permanent housing and provide savings techniques
- Provide job search techniques and referrals for job search assistance
- Provide information and referrals on continued education and scholarships as needed
- Provide ongoing referrals for community resources as needed regarding: safety, food security, childcare, emergency financial assistance, legal counsel, health insurance, mental health counseling, substance abuse counseling, support groups and permanent housing solutions
- Network and collaborate with community resource agencies, housing programs, and landlords on behalf of clients
- Respond to transitional client calls or emails by the next business day
- Provide transportation as necessary
- Provide childcare referrals as necessary
- Maintain accurate and timely records
- Administer satisfaction of services survey
- Collect data and generate reports for grants as it pertains to transitional clients
- Attend scheduled meetings, trainings and staff meetings
Qualifications
Requirements:
Bachelor degree in a related field preferred
Experience in trauma-informed services working with survivors of domestic violence preferred
Bilingual in Spanish preferred – Ability to lift 20+ lbs. – Valid Driver’s License – Car insurance
Ability to work in crisis situations as part of a team and individually
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
Reports to: Exec. Dir.
