Job Summary

Basic Function: Plans and implements development activities for the annual giving campaign including donor prospecting, solicitation strategies, direct response, fundraising events and volunteer management, and the donor management system.

This position is expected to grown into a Development Director level position once our expansion is complete.

Job Responsibilities

I.          Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Develops and executes a development strategy for donors and prospects, prioritizing a development budget, to achieve the strategic plan. 
    1. Creates an annual development plan for individual and institutional gifts, including strategies, goals, objectives, timetable and budget; implements and monitors plan throughout the year.
    2. With the Executive Director, serves as a staff resource to the Development Committee of the Board of Directors and plans the agenda for the committee’s quarterly meetings to see that it is organized to carry out these objectives. 
    3. Provides analysis of ongoing results and response strategies. 
  2. Identifies, cultivates, solicits and stewards donors, determining institutional priorities and program interests to assist in growth and retention. 
    1. Ensures and builds a ladder of giving and a tracking system to move donors from initial gifts to levels that maximize the amount possible. 
    2. Conducts confidential research on individuals, corporations and foundations.
    3. Maintains critical files and records management.  Ensures the processing of all gifts, including pledges and any restrictions or reporting requirements that may apply, while overseeing record keeping systems to track, monitor and evaluate.
    4. Produces reports and assist with general analysis of data as it relates to fundraising and donor recognition.
    5. Manages donor contribution acknowledgement process.
    6. Manages donation reconciliation with the controller.
    7. Increases donors through the Annual Campaign by setting goals, developing materials, tracking, and working with Executive Director and volunteers to ensure success.  Coordinates recognition strategies as applicable.
  3. Secures foundation funding by researching and writing grant proposals and working with the program staff when necessary.  Maintains relationships with funders and is responsible for writing grants and reports. Keeps abreast of all potential funding sources, meeting critical deadlines for funding opportunities and reporting.
  4. Expands the corporate base by researching and writing charitable gift proposals and working with the program staff when necessary. Maintains relationships with sponsors and actively prospects for additional partners.
  5. Oversees the implementation and management of special events and outreach opportunities providing motivation, guidance, training, and supervision for volunteers in order to meet objectives.  Coordinates all aspects of logistics and provides the necessary support to ensure success.
  6. Ensures compliance with laws, governmental regulations, and policies applicable to fundraising. 
  7. Oversees work that is outsourced for direct response, events and any other companies related to fundraising.
  8. Supervises and develops objective performance measures to ensure consistent, high quality evaluation and goal setting. Instill a sense of accountability among team members by modeling thorough oversight of individual and organization performance standards. Recruit, hire, and oversee training and orientation of development staff members (in the future)
  9. Manages the day to day activities of the department, leading the development team and its initiatives to cultivate, solicit and steward individual prospects and donors.
  10. Represents Grace Place Ministry at a variety of community events, communicating and marketing the mission and services.
  11. Ensures compliance with laws, governmental regulations, and policies applicable to fundraising.

Qualifications

III.        Work Requirements and Qualifications

1.         Education

  1. Bachelors Degree with emphasis related to resource development or the equivalent of this through a combination or education, training, work or life experience.

2.         Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

          1. General knowledge of all aspects of resource development with a proven record in raising funds and marketing a product or experience.  Skills in working with volunteers and supervising staff. 
          2. Ability to plan, organize, train, coordinate, monitor and delegate.  Creative and resourceful. 
          3. Excellent verbal and writing skills.
          4. Personal flexibility to attend donor events and proven experience working within a team based environment
          5. Excellent knowledge of all social media platforms, trends, and designs

3.         Experience

  1. Actively working to obtain CFRE certification
  2. Minimum 2 years of experience in fund raising
  3. Worked in a non-profit, managing a development team a plus
  4. Working with a high-performance, collaborative, constructive peer group
  5. Cloud based database management software such as Bloomerang.
