Autism Career Training in Nashville is seeking a passionate and dedicated Lead Teacher to guide and empower adults with ASD at their Franklin TN site. This position will play a vital role in fostering independence, life skill development, and creating a supportive learning environment.

Applicants should be highly organized, communicative, and an empathetic individual with a strong understanding of autism spectrum disorder and a passion for helping individuals achieve their full potential. Experience in special education, social work, family sciences, psychology or a related field is highly preferred. a related field is highly preferred.

 

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing daily schedules and structured routines for trainees.
  • Creating individualized goals and support plans in collaboration with the co-teacher.
  • Leading and scheduling monthly team meetings at the designated location.
  • Maintaining open and direct communication with parents regarding progress, concerns, and questions.
  • Conducting initial meetings with parents of new trainees (clients) to establish rapport and gather essential information.
  • Leading tours for prospective families, showcasing our program and answering their questions.
  • Generating and distributing quarterly progress reports to families, highlighting trainee achievements and areas for growth.
  • Proactively communicating any classroom-related concerns to the Clinical Director.
  • Accurately taking daily attendance.
  • Providing end-of-day communication to parents, summarizing daily activities and progress.
  • Collaborating closely with the Program Specialist on curriculum development and program activities.
  • Contributing to a positive and inclusive classroom culture that encourages trainee engagement and skill development.
  • Providing guidance and support to co-teachers and part-time staff to ensure consistent program delivery.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Experience working with individuals with autism spectrum disorder is highly preferred.
  • Proficient in Central Reach preferred.
  • Able to handle stress in a positive manner.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A positive attitude, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting the growth and development of others.
