Conscious Conflict & Maintaining Community at Work (Zoom)

Conflict management is often the missing piece of a robust diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) strategy. How organizations manage conflict directly impacts the health and psychological safety of our workplace communities. Conscious conflict provides a new approach to disrupting microaggressions, addressing harms, and building trust. Creating an inclusive and equitable workplace community requires accountability for harms, the opportunity for healing, and building institutional knowledge. Participants will learn how the shift toward conscious conflict improves organizational culture as well as setting new norms that positively impact inclusion and equity.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand belonging, workplace community, and the role of psychological safety
  • Anticipate conflicts that break trust, cause harms, or allow microaggressions to occur, disproportionality impacting underrepresented identities
  • Practice conscious conflict using real-world scenarios and situations
  • Explore a new conflict management model that helps navigate power dynamics and support a culture of inclusion & equity
