Job Summary

The Family Program Coordinator (FPC) is responsible for coordinating all family and friends programming at NAMI Davidson Co. alongside the CPO. FPC will also lead family support groups, education classes and presentations as needed. FPC will participate in outreach events and collaboration within the Greater Nashville area. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, compassionate services to family and friends supporting loved ones affected by mental health conditions, with an emphasis on education, support, and advocacy.

  • Actively promote cultural competency in all aspects of family programming.
  • Ensure that programs are accessible and welcoming to family and friends from all backgrounds, cultures, and communities, including underserved and marginalized populations.
  • Engage in ongoing learning and reflection to create an environment where all participants feel heard, respected, and valued.
  • Promote inclusive practices in outreach, recruitment, and community engagement efforts, ensuring equitable access to services for all families affected by mental health conditions.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Program Leadership & Facilitation
    • Coordinate and conduct Family Support Groups, Family-to-Family Classes, and Family & Friends presentations, providing education and support to family and friends impacted by mental health conditions.
    • Implement NAMI Basics at the affiliate level.
    • Co-host mixed (peer and family) support groups as needed.
    • Organize and oversee social activities for family and friends, creating opportunities for community and support.
  2. Outreach & Community Engagement
    • Conduct outreach to recruit program participants and promote family programs within the community.
    • Collaborate with private practices, discharge planners, faith communities, and other diverse organizations to build partnerships and increase program access.
    • Assist the CPO with communication efforts targeted at family and friends, ensuring resources and support are effectively delivered.
    • Actively participate in NAMIWalks Middle Tennessee and other community events to represent the organization and connect with family and friends.
  3. Reporting & Administration
    • Attend community meetings as assigned, providing updates on program status, challenges, and successes.
    • Work with the CPO to prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual statistical reports, specifically related to family programs and grants.
    • Ensure the ongoing coverage of the Helpline, assisting as needed.
    • Submit weekly timesheets to the CPO and Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
    • Complete necessary staff documentation, such as signing mileage reports, completed outreach forms, etc.
  4. Additional Responsibilities
    • Assist Development Manager with fundraising efforts and support NAMI Davidson’s mission, as needed.
    • Adhere to all program policies and procedures and uphold the organization’s values.
    • Other duties as assigned by the CPO or Executive Director.

Qualifications

  • A family member or friend to someone with a mental health condition or a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Previous experience working in community mental health, particularly with individuals experiencing serious and persistent mental illness, is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as proficiency with technology and computer software.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and training, particularly in family education and mental health advocacy.

As a part time position health care benefits are not offered, but there is paid holidays, vacation, and sick time, a pro-rated retirement plan after one year, and mileage reinbursement.
