Lead Teacher – Autism Career Training – Williamson County Location
Autism Career Training in Nashville is seeking a passionate and dedicated Lead Teacher to guide and empower adults with ASD at their Franklin TN site. This position will play a vital role in fostering independence, life skill development, and creating a supportive learning environment.
Applicants should be highly organized, communicative, and an empathetic individual with a strong understanding of autism spectrum disorder and a passion for helping individuals achieve their full potential. Experience in special education, social work, family sciences, psychology or a related field is highly preferred. a related field is highly preferred.
Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing daily schedules and structured routines for trainees.
- Creating individualized goals and support plans in collaboration with the co-teacher.
- Leading and scheduling monthly team meetings at the designated location.
- Maintaining open and direct communication with parents regarding progress, concerns, and questions.
- Conducting initial meetings with parents of new trainees (clients) to establish rapport and gather essential information.
- Leading tours for prospective families, showcasing our program and answering their questions.
- Generating and distributing quarterly progress reports to families, highlighting trainee achievements and areas for growth.
- Proactively communicating any classroom-related concerns to the Clinical Director.
- Accurately taking daily attendance.
- Providing end-of-day communication to parents, summarizing daily activities and progress.
- Collaborating closely with the Program Specialist on curriculum development and program activities.
- Contributing to a positive and inclusive classroom culture that encourages trainee engagement and skill development.
- Providing guidance and support to co-teachers and part-time staff to ensure consistent program delivery.
Qualifications
- Experience working with individuals with autism spectrum disorder is highly preferred.
- Proficient in Central Reach preferred.
- Able to handle stress in a positive manner.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A positive attitude, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting the growth and development of others.
