About the Role

The Client Support Program Coordinator at the Tennessee Innocence Project (TIP) is a compassionate, highly organized, and detail-oriented professional who is committed to supporting clients impacted by wrongful convictions. This position plays a critical role in providing guidance and resources to TIP’s incarcerated clients, post-conviction clients, and their families.

The Coordinator will work closely with TIP’s Legal Team and Executive Director on specific projects while being managed day-to-day by the Chief Operating Officer (COO). This role combines advocacy, collaboration, and program development to ensure that clients and their families receive comprehensive support throughout their journey.

Job Responsibilities

Essential Functions

Incarcerated Client and Family Support

  • Develop and provide support systems for incarcerated clients and their families to navigate the legal process, ensuring they feel informed and supported.
  • Explain legal procedures and assist clients and families in understanding and preparing for each stage of their cases, while the lead attorney remains the primary point of contact for updates.
  • Address emotional and practical needs, offering guidance and resources to help families cope with the challenges of incarceration.

Post-Conviction Client and Family Support

  • Design and implement reentry programs tailored to meet the needs of post-conviction clients and their families, with a focus on financial literacy, housing stability, job readiness, and community reintegration.
  • Collaborate with community organizations to connect clients with counseling, educational opportunities, and workforce development programs.
  • Facilitate workshops and support groups to help clients and families transition to new routines and build sustainable futures.

Collaboration and Program Development

  • Partner with TIP’s legal team, community organizations, and advocacy groups to expand client and family support networks.
  • Maintain detailed case records and ensure compliance with confidentiality standards.
  • Regularly evaluate program effectiveness, identify barriers, and propose solutions to enhance services.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) or a related field required; Licensed Social Worker (LSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) preferred.
  • 3–5 years of experience in reentry services, case management, or working with incarcerated or underserved populations.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed care and the criminal justice system.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and case management software.
  • Experience in program development and workshop facilitation preferred.

Compensation

  • Salary: $50,000-$55,000 per year
  • Benefits: Two weeks paid time off per year, health insurance, 401K, and short-term/long-term disability insurance.
