Job Summary

Pediatric Occupational Therapists provide services to children from birth to 21 years old, addressing a range of diagnoses and developmental delays. Their goal is to help children improve their condition or recover from injury while enhancing or restoring the skills necessary for maximum independence.

Job Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

Administers comprehensive assessments to evaluate physical, cognitive, sensory processing and/or feeding abilities.

Gains a comprehensive understanding of the patient’s medical history, strengths, and areas for improvement.

Conducts, scores, and analyzes evaluation and observation reports to create and modify personalized treatment plans.

Tailors treatment plans to the patient’s unique needs, focusing on achieving their individual goals.

Adjust interventions to accommodate changes in the patient’s physical, cognitive, and sensory processing abilities.

Supports patients in their school and daily living activities by providing necessary modifications to help them succeed.

Educates caregivers and patients on effective self-management strategies and techniques.

Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to integrate and ensure cohesive, comprehensive care.

Maintains precise and up-to-date documentation of treatment plans, daily progress notes, evaluations, progress reports, and reevaluations within electronic medical records

Manages professional licensure, continuing education, and CPR certification to uphold best practices and stay current with evidence-based advancements.

Attends meetings, conferences, and participates in various activities to foster continuous professional development.

Qualifications

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

Master’s or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy with related experience and/or training.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer skills and the ability to learn new software and web-based applications such as electronic medical records.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Active and unencumbered Tennessee State OT License required; American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification with skills testing required; membership in AOTA recommended; HIPAA certification encouraged.
