Job Summary

Position Summary:

The Senior Manager, Impact Networks contributes to the efforts of United Way of Greater Nashville (UWGN) by providing system leadership (process design, convening, coordination, mapping, and story-telling) to solve complex community problems with the goal of advancing pathways to economic mobility. The Senior Manager will nurture relationships, build theory and design practices to align partners around strategies and foster a culture of problem solving and innovation. This position will support the advancement of the North Nashville Economic Mobility plan and collaborate with the strategy team to design and support alignment across Community Impact initiatives.

Job Responsibilities

Primary Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Provide leadership to the North Nashville revitalization project which includes collaborating with identified partners to advance the Economic Mobility plan
  • Convene community partners to develop and implement community wide strategies and implement action plans
  • Convene action teams and coordinate activity across the network
  • Facilitate communication with partners to support partner engagement
  • Support data tracking and analysis across economic mobility projects
  • Research Economic Mobility and poverty alleviation strategies
  • Support the development of a social network analysis to assess and measure our networks connectivity
  • Oversee grant work plans and make adaptations to strategies as needed
  • Work across Pathways to Economic Mobility to support design and implementation of system building effort
  • Cultivate trusting relationships across economic mobility network and foster alignment across pathways to economic mobility
  • Work across Pathways to Economic Mobility to support design and implementation of system building effort
  • Engage in local, regional, and national discussions focused on the components of pathways to economic mobility
  • Develop network ability to navigate complexity and create meaningful change
  • Work with Senior Director, Strategy and Innovation to utilize the McGruder Center as a hub for place-based strategies identified in the community such as workforce development, VITA, FEC and perhaps an innovative model for a revitalized FRC model

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Arts or Science or five plus years’ experience in management and community impact work

  • Understanding of Adult Education and Workforce Development best practices
  • Research, assessments, and evaluation practices
  • Grant management accounting and invoice management
  • Understanding of data warehousing and shared platforms
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and presentation skills 
  • Ability to work with diverse constituency and relate to individuals and groups in a manner that will inspire respect and confidence 
  • Ability to perform with minimal supervision 
  • Ability to withstand stress and handle numerous assignments simultaneously 
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage time effectively to meet deadlines 

Physical Demands:  Visual acuity, manual dexterity, hearing, driving, standing, walking, sitting, stooping, bending, lifting, and carrying 50 pounds.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform their essential duties. 

 

Working Conditions: 

 

  • Minimum of 37.5 hours per week. Based on campaign schedules, position often requires work beyond traditional hours 
  • Flexible schedule required during special projects and events  
  • Work involves frequent interaction with other members of the United Way staff, volunteers, representatives of non-profit agencies and the general public 
  • Occasional use of personal vehicle (mileage will be reimbursed) 
  • The employee is required to stand, walk, climb, and balance.
  • Well-lighted, heated, and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation.
