Job Summary

The Authors Workshop is a writing workshop for adults (AAW) who love to write or are interested in learning more about writing. During the workshop, writers will be introduced to the writing styles of poetry, article writing, short stories and playwrights. Sessions will include icebreaker activities, free writing, progressive stories, team building, read alouds, group discussion and a guest speaker presentation. At the end of the workshop, participants can contribute their work to a published anthology.  After the anthology is published, participants will be invited to do a public reading and book signing.

Job Responsibilities

Attend CW trainings and orientations related to Facilitator’s role as a writing facilitator. Facilitate the Workshops, including by leading writing sessions, providing feedback on written work, giving opportunities for attendees to receive feedback from their peers on their written work, scheduling and hosting guest speakers, and keeping attendance and up-to-date evaluations. Promote the Workshops and answer questions from the public about them. Contact the CW Board of Directors upon the occurrence of any incidents. Perform such other tasks and assignments as CW may from time to time reasonably request.

Qualifications

Minimum: Two years of college in a related field and/or comparable work-related experience with tutoring, teaching, mentoring, leading or facilitation experience. Excellent public speaking and communication skills. Good time management and organizational skills. Ability to engage new innovative concepts with activity-based learning.

Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or higher with experience tutoring, teaching, mentoring, leading or facilitating classes or writing workshops. Excellent public speaking and communication skills. Good time management and organizational skills. Ability to engage new innovative concepts with activity-based learning.
