What does the Cheekwood Volunteer Team do and why join?
At Cheekwood, the volunteer team plays a crucial role in enhancing visitor experiences and supporting daily operations. We assist with tasks such as guiding tours, providing information to visitors, helping with events or educational programs and assist at times in maintaining the gardens or exhibits. The Volunteer team also engages in the community and represents Cheekwood at various events supporting our mission of inclusion and diversity.
What will you be doing?
You will be helping with the coordination, administration and support of the volunteer program.
Job Responsibilities
Essential Responsibilities
- Assist with volunteers at Cheekwood events, programs, projects, outreach.
- Assist with volunteer recognition events and activities.
- Organizing volunteer scheduling, check- ins and assignments.
- Attending Cheekwood staff trainings or meetings as schedule allows.
- Work as a team member side by side with Cheekwood staff.
- Communicate and engage with volunteers and Cheekwood staff.
- Representing Cheekwood with professionalism and hospitality at community events.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Must be outgoing, people friendly, and enjoy working with the public.
- Must be organized, flexible, and ablet to follow instructions without direct supervision.
- Experience volunteering or working in a team environment.
- Experience working events in a public-facing organization.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Ability to network with community partners.
- Able to work weekends and/or evening hours.
- Experience using MS Office.
- Able to respond to emergency situations calmly and follow protocols.
- Leadership skills are strongly desired.
- Interest in art, horticulture and community events preferred.
