Job Summary
The Volunteer Coordinator’s primary responsibility is to directly oversee the Volunteer Supervisor and to assist the Executive Director of CASA of the Highland Rim. The Volunteer Coordinator will be supervised in accordance with CASA’s values, policies, and standards.
Job Responsibilities
Duties:
Program Responsibilities:
- Reviews all new cases and assign volunteers based on set criteria
- Maintain at least a monthly contact with each assigned volunteer
- Promote interagency cooperation among local agencies that serve abused and neglected children and their families
- Ensure appropriate communication between CASA and court personnel, child welfare agencies, and the legal community
- Ensure that the CASA of Dickson County adheres to any requirement set forth through contractual agreements with granting agencies, such as Tennessee CASA, National CASA, and VOCA
- Conduct annual evaluations for assigned CASA volunteers
- Provide narrative and statistical reports as needed for grant reporting, grant requests, agency publications, and other similar needs to the Executive Director
- Supervise and evaluate the part-time CASA Volunteer Supervisor and provide input to the Executive Director as requested
- Review/Edit monthly hearing reports of assigned CASA volunteer
- Monitor and report volunteer advocates concerns to the Executive Director
- Ensure CASA representation at all staffing, court hearings, and other case-related meetings
Case Responsibilities
- Serves as the primary case supervisor for volunteers in the following capacity:
- Supervise and support volunteers according to the volunteer plan
- Maintain up-to-date case files in CASA Manager
- Assist volunteers to develop case plans and presenting in a monthly staff meeting
- Appear for volunteers at court dates, hearings, and meetings
- Maintain schedule of all court dates, and review, file, and deliver court reports in a timely matter
- Evaluate volunteers
Additional Duties
- Complete 30 hours of Volunteer Training upon hire
- Take 12 hours of continuing education classes annually
- Participate in continuing education opportunities relevant to this position
- Attend national, regional, and state conferences and meetings as assigned
- Some out-of-town travel and evening and weekend are required
- Plan and staff events for recruiting volunteers
- Other duties as assigned by Executive Director
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in communications, Human Services, or Social Work- related field or (4) years equivalent combination of training and experience.
- A basic understanding of the dynamics of child abuse and neglect including the ability to manage sensitive information and maintain confidentiality
- Able to work a flexible schedule
