FiftyForward has an excellent opportunity for a Volunteer Coordinator for our Friends Learning in Pairs (FLIP) program.  In this role, you will work closely with our active older adult volunteers, managing, supporting, and placing adult tutors 55+ with students in partnering Davidson County elementary schools for one-on-one academic support in reading or math.  

This is an AmeriCorps Seniors grant funded, full-time position with regular weekday hours, Monday – Friday, 8am – 4:30pm.  This is a hybrid position (minimum 3 days in office).

The ideal candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to quickly learn our mission, being able to flex between working independently and within a team, and most importantly, a passion for service to older adults.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage FiftyForward’s FLIP program in Davidson County.
  • Manage volunteer component of intergenerational digital literacy project supporting older adults.
  • Build relationships with Davidson County school partners.
  • Recruit new volunteers, using all available media, and speaking before groups as requested.
  • Develop methods of collecting volunteer satisfaction surveys, track volunteer efforts including years of service, individual volunteer preferred hours, and shifts completed.
  • Maintain volunteer database ensuring up-to-date and accurate records of volunteer hours, assignments, and mileage reimbursements.
  • Maintain paperwork to meet requirements of federal grant.
  • Produce volunteer program reports.
  • Develop partnerships within the Davidson County nonprofit community to identify and meet volunteer needs.
  • Collaborate with Director of Volunteer Engagement to continually evaluate, implement, and improve systems, programs, and functions.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED equivalency.  Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • 1 – 3 years’ volunteer management experience.
  • Experience in a school environment is a plus.
  • 1-3 years’ experience using desktop and/or laptop computer, various databases, multi-user copier/scanner, and multi-line telecommunications system.
  • Ability to travel within Davidson County as you visit schools.
  • A valid TN driver’s license including a good motor vehicle record, and appropriate automobile insurance.
  • Promote and uphold FiftyForward’s mission of supporting, championing, and enhancing life for those 50 and older.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with staff, volunteers, and the public.
  • Effective and professional communication (verbal/written) and presentation skills.
  • Proficient computer skills, MS Office 365.
  • Excellent detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to adjust to changing priorities and managing multiple projects.
  • Open to constructive feedback, and creative dialogue with FiftyForward Management Team.
  • Proven ability to be flexible and work cooperatively with a wide range of constituents and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and within team environment.
