Job Summary

Nashville International Center for Empowerment, established in 2005, is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) ethnic community-based organization dedicated to ensure refugees and immigrants achieve their full potential now and for generations to come. The Volunteer and Training Coordinator will report to the Director of Education and will work closely with education program staff. This is a full time, 40 hour position.

Job Responsibilities

  • Supervise the onboarding, placement, and training of all volunteers and interns.
  • Manage the volunteer recruitment and retention plan.
  • Utilize marketing techniques to convey NICE’s mission, events, and opportunities to volunteers
  • Establish and maintain communication with volunteers by managing email distribution
  • Work closely with the Development and Outreach team to cultivate long-term volunteer investment in agency success.
  • Recruit volunteers from a variety of communities across Nashville
  • Train and place all NICE volunteers in the Education Department
  • Attend training and professional development events as directed by the Director of Education

Qualifications

Successful candidates will demonstrate:

  • Ability to work with a diverse team. 
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, manage, control and execute tasks on timely matters
  • Ability to present a strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Have high levels of motivation, self-reliance, and independence
  • Ability to troubleshoot/problem solve

 Requirements:

  • Excellent written and oral English proficiency
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ESL teaching strategies 
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, information databases, internet, Learning Management Systems, and email
  • Commitment to live and work in Nashville, Tennessee
  • Reliable transportation

Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Minimum 1 year relevant work experience with qualification or 4 year’s equivalent work experience. 
  • Experience with volunteer management preferred
  • Qualification to teach English Language Learners preferred.
  • Acceptable qualifications include MEd, MA, or MAT in ESL or TESOL, TESL or TEFL certificate from a qualifying agency, CELTA or DELTA certification. Experience teaching or leading training
