POSITION SUMMARY

The Vice President of Schools will oversee and execute the leadership and financial initiatives and strategies required to continuously align, improve, and support the current and future successful expansion of the charter schools.  In addition, this position assures that schools reflect strong alignment with MOBC’s mission, relational approach and core values. This position is a member of the Martha O’Bryan Center executive team.

Job Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Strategically partner with the CEO and school leaders to refine the instructional model to achieve the missions of the two charter schools, Explore Community School (Explore) and East End Preparatory School (EEP)
  • Directly supervise the School leaders at Explore and EEP. Provide ongoing and strategic leadership and visionary support. Serve as the liaison between the School Leaders and the CEO.
  • Support the Executive Principals’ continued development of educational models producing successful levels of student achievement.
  • Execute and align a vision that is sustainable with the 2025 strategic plans of Explore, EEP, and the Martha O’Bryan Center.
  • Facilitates and align legal and financial decisions, reporting obligations, hiring decisions, and other special initiatives under the guidance of the CEO, CFO, and Senior Director of HR.
  • Effective partner with the Chief Program Officer (CPO) to provide seamless family and child offerings within the schools outside of the school day and year.
  • Secure, manage, and negotiate contractual agreements for sustainable financial growth.
  • Support the current scale and oversee the future expansion of additional, annual grade levels and classrooms.
  • Advise and report to the CEO and MOBC Board of Directors and School Councils on the state of the schools
  • Advocate on behalf of the schools and secure new stakeholders internally and externally.
  • Evaluate and eliminate any processes that detract from achieving high-impact results and achievement within the joyful and warm school environment that defines MOBC schools.
  • Communicate and interact effectively with executive leadership, school administrators, teachers and staff, parents, community members, and board(s) of directors
  • Implement innovative financial solutions in an ambitious goal setting climate.
  • Drive and monitor systems allowing for capacity and succession in key leadership roles at the schools.
  • Recommend operations and procedural improvements.
  • Effectively use data to improve culture, climate and academic success as well as reports to the CEO, Executive Team and MOBC Board.
  • Engage proactively to promote the hiring goals of the MOBC HR department and schools, including any diversity and inclusion benchmarks.
  • Collaborate with the CDO and development team to meet any financial development needs of the schools.

 

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required. Master’s Degree in Education, MBA, or JD preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of school or financial leadership or other relevant experience.  Minimum of 3 years of charter schools experience preferred.
  • Contractual negotiation experience required.
  • Personnel experience required.
  • Transportation experience required.
  • Proven track record of success in leading people, strategic implementation and communication with a broad constituency.

  • Flexibility to work long hours, including early arrival and late departure.

  • Computer literate including familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet, database, desk top publishing software, email and the internet.
