Job Summary

TPAC is a nonprofit performing arts organization and cultural anchor providing enriching arts experiences for all ages, empowering lifelong arts education programs, artistic expression reflective of our community, arts connections that support the local economy, and sustainable support for professional resident companies and local artists.

OBJECTIVE

The Usher position supports the front of house operations in all activities needed to provide a positive guest experience and to ensure guest safety. Working closely with TPAC’s Guest Services Department this position is positive, engaging, contemporary, supportive of the arts community, and respresentative of TPAC’s core values, while also maintaining and implementing safety protocols. By providing outstanding service to our guests, this position is vital to TPAC and the overall patron experience

Job Responsibilities

  • Welcome guests by giving directions, assisting with seating, ticket taking, observing, and attending to guests needs.
  • Supports Guest Services Management & TPAC’s Accessible Services Team.
  • Listen to guest inquiries and resolve any issues in a helpful, respectful, responsive, and professional manner.
  • Communicate and educate guests on venue and event policies both internal and those requested by the event.
  • Check their assigned area for potential safety concerns, cleanliness, lost and found items, and report to your House Supervisor.
  • Assist with both the Security and Safety Department along with the Guest Services Department in safely evacuating audiences out of the venue as needed.
  • Providing a courteous and welcoming environment for both guests and fellow team members, promoting a positive work environment.
  • Ensuring compliance of all Covid-19 Policies and Procedures. 
  • Supports TPAC’s Diversity, Inclusion, Access and Equity (DIAE) program as a part-time team member but also to our guests.

The responsibilities listed above are not all inclusive. Other related duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

Required: Availability of 3-4 shifts weekly. Shifts are a 4 hour minimum. Daily email access. Consistent professional and neat presentation.

Preferred: Customer Service Experience. Ability to work well in a group. Ability to manage crowds and remain calm in stressful situations.

Encouraged: Previous Venue Usher experience, Bilingual, Enjoys working with the public.

FREQUENT FUNCTIONS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Frequent Functions: Standing and being stationary for long periods of time.  Ascending and Descending flights of stairs. Face to face contact. Working in the dark with loud noises and flashing lights.

Occasional Functions: Lifting and moving program boxes up to 30 lbs.  Hand dexterity in regards to ticket scanners.  Bending and Stooping. Ability to work outside in all weather conditions including hot and cold temperatures. Working at a high elevation.
