Job Summary

The Treasurer is a key member of the Board of Directors, responsible for overseeing the financial health and integrity of the organization. This role involves managing financial records, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and providing strategic financial guidance to support the nonprofit’s mission.

Job Responsibilities

  • Financial Oversight: Monitor the organization’s financial status, including reviewing monthly financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Budget Management: Collaborate with the Executive Director and finance committee to develop and manage the annual budget.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present financial reports to the Board of Directors, ensuring transparency and accuracy.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and reporting requirements, including tax filings and audits.
  • Internal Controls: Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard the organization’s assets.
  • Fundraising Support: Assist in developing financial strategies for fundraising campaigns and grant applications.
  • Investment Management: Oversee the management of the organization’s investments and reserves.
  • Advisory Role: Provide financial advice and insights to support strategic planning and decision-making.

Time Commitment:

  • Attend quarterly board meetings and committee meetings.
  • Approximately 10-15 hours per month for leadership and oversight tasks.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in financial management, accounting, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of nonprofit financial practices and regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with board members and staff.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of the organization.
