Exciting job opportunity to join a life-saving team at a growing not-for-profit based in Middle Tennessee. The work of this position goes beyond simply dog training as you are heavily involved with supporting animals and families in the community where empathy and compassion is a must. Your efforts will support the organization’s mission of finding loving homes for abandoned and displaced dogs through our signature adoption and adoption program while cultivating better communities through dog training, owner education and outreach programs. Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Canine Community Coaching program through hosting in-person classes for fosters, adopters, and public clients, recruit training assistants, cultivate and manage community non-profit partnerships while maintaining records and data for the program.
  • Work directly with training clients and foster families, as needed, through weekly communications regarding class details, curriculum, training tools, and post-graduation appreciation and follow up needs.
  • Responsible for creating force-free training curriculum and content for in person classes, online resource center, and social accounts with the goal of gaining new clients while cultivating current clients.
  • Manage foster dog training and behavior modification plans from start to finish including evaluating, creating plans, and supporting fosters with scheduled check-ins and one-on-one training.
  • Support foster dogs through the adoption process when needed to ensure training and behavior modification plans are accurately explained and followed through to new owners.
  • Offer continued education for the organization through Training Zoomies program.  
  • Spearhead the conversion of foster training and orientation from paper to an online eLearning platform with the goal of streamlining the new foster onboarding process.
  • Report progress at both weekly and monthly staff meetings while working closely with Operations Manager and Executive Director to ensure all tasks are executed seamlessly.

Qualifications

Experience:  Animal welfare and/or human services experience preferred. Understanding of basic medical care and general pet ownership a must. Program management and development desired.

Education: Industry certification or related college degree preferred. Professional force-free dog training certification (such as KPA CTP, CCPDT, VSA-CDT, etc,) or willingness to complete certification required.

Technical Skills: Ability to work with shelter management software (ShelterLuv), Microsoft Office, and Google docs.

Work Location: Work from home. Local travel required. 

Success: Measured by personal and team accomplishments in relation to goals set in partnership with Operations Manager and Executive Director.
