Job Summary

The preschool support teacher is an individual who brings their love of children and teaching into everything they do. They are someone who is eager to work with children ages 2:1/2-5 in a first-school environment. Someone who is inspired to create, educate, nurture and lead a thriving program for active kids. The role of the preschool support teacher is to support the teaching staff in their time of absence or assist daily by performing various tasks throughout the classroom and help foster the development of the children intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically.

Job Responsibilities

  • Is caring and enjoys teaching young children
  • Can lift up to 40 pounds
  • Will provide a safe and nurturing environment in the classroom
  • Will help lead a Reggio/Emergent Curriculum inspired classroom
  • Fosters an environment in which preschoolers can develop and reach age appropriate milestones
  • Is a team player; willing to collaborate and be flexible
  • Can communicate clearly and professionally with all families and staff
  • Has previous experience with child care
  • Is open to furthering education/professional development
  • Knowledge of simple technology use (using Microsoft Word, Email, etc.)
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Follows guidelines set forth by King’s Daughters, DHS, and any other guidelines set forth for care

Qualifications

Educational Requirements:
•    Bachelor degree or associate degree from an accredited institution with a major in child development or pre-school education, preferred or CDA required or enrollment in EC classes or TECTA.
•    At least one year of experience preferred.
•    Pass a background check and drug screen
