Job Summary

The Summer Employment Coach will work closely with the Youth Services Coordinator to support Goodwill’s Intern Programs. They will provide leadership supervision, training, and assistance to interns who require individualized support to effectively function within competitive work setting.

Essential Functions

  • Provide each summer worker with initial training and development of appropriate work skills at the intern’s employer training site.
  • Be sensitive to behavioral support and production needs of each intern.
  • Provide encouragement to program participants and create a safe environment for them each day.
  • Provide prompt and appropriate correction of unsatisfactory behaviors by workers.
  • Inspect the work produced by each person and ensure quality standards are met.
  • Have knowledge and technical savvy to create, operate, and utilize video conferencing software.
  • Need to have strong technical skills to operate appropriate software for the program.
  • High technical competency with Microsoft and/or Google Suite technology to create, generate and assist with weekly reports and ad-hoc projects.
  • Each week, they will complete written records and sign daily logs of client activity and submits information to Youth Services Coordinator.
  • Serve as a liaison between employers and Goodwill Industries to promote good customer relations.
  • Be knowledgeable of and comply with all company policies and procedures as well as legal requirements at all times.
  • Ability to pass a Tennessee Bureau of Investigation background check.
  • Regular, required attendance, as defined in Goodwill’s attendance policy.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Required Skills

Education

  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalency is required.

Experience

  • Previous experience working in a teaching or training environment with persons with disabilities is required.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft and/or Google Suite technology and video conferencing software.
  • Experience training and mentoring youth.
  • Experience in lesson planning, differentiation and/or curriculum development.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Ability to effectively communicate and interact with persons of various backgrounds and experiences.
  • Ability to organize and establish priorities.
  • Ability to function independently within the realms of established policies and guidelines.
  • Must be dependable and conscientious.
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality of records of persons served by the Agency, protecting the privacy and dignity of those served and supervised at all times.
  • Advanced Computer Skills (Microsoft Word, Excel and Email).

Preferred Education / Experience / Knowledge & Skills / Certifications & License

  • Bachelor’s degree in behavioral sciences, special education or related field is preferred.
