Nashville CARES is seeking candidates with a diversity of work and life experience to provide individual, couples, and group counseling to people living with HIV who are struggling with substance use and/or co-occurring disorders. The ideal candidate will have prior experience providing counseling services to individuals at all stages of addiction and recovery. The ideal candidate operates from a trauma-informed, harm reduction model. Job Responsibilities

What you’ll do:

  • Provides addiction and recovery services consistent with ASAM Level 1 outpatient care, including individual counseling, screening and assessment, brief intervention, relapse prevention, harm reduction, treatment planning, referral to treatment, group therapy, and treatment of co-occurring disorders;
  • Assist in the creation and ongoing implementation of clinical groups;
  • Provide services to agency clients on-site, off-site, and via telehealth; 
  • Practice within the bounds of established professional standards and Code(s) of Ethics (NASW);
  • Provide services consistent with a community counseling model, including education/prevention, outreach, advocacy, and consultation;
  • Participate in weekly department meetings and regular individual supervision, other meetings as identified
  • Prepare and maintain necessary client records and reports in accordance with licensing and accreditation standards and agency policies/procedures

Qualifications

Required

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or other Behavioral Science field;
  • State of Tennessee unencumbered licensure as LADAC, Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or equivalent license per degree;
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a mental health and/or substance use setting, paid or unpaid (internship experience included);
  • Desire to work with persons living with HIV; desire to work in community mental health with clients who have a high prevalence of mental illness, trauma, and substance use;
  • Experience working with populations diverse in race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, religious affiliation, etc;
  • Valid Tennessee Driver’s License, vehicle, and automobile liability insurance to facilitate local travel required for client/agency-related business.

Preferred

  • Two years of clinical or social service experience relating to: HIV/AIDS, co-occurring disorders, substance use, sexual identity issues, grief/loss, trauma, or crisis intervention
  • Experience with telehealth behavioral health platforms.
  • Experience, as a clinician, interfacing with insurance companies
  • Bi-lingual abilities preferred
