Job Summary

Catholic Charities, Diocese of Nashville, is seeking candidates for the position of State Refugee Health Coordinator in its Tennessee Office for Refugees department. This is a full-time position and the work schedule is 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The work location is the Catholic Pastoral Center located at 2806 McGavock Pike, Nashville, TN, 37214.

Job Responsibilities

Primary job functions include:

  • Oversight of the refugee medical screening program
  • Assist in coordination of health care services for refugees across the state
  • Development/provision of ongoing health education for refugees in Tennessee
  • Identify and develop strategic partnerships to advance refugee health
  • Serve as liaison with federal partners and statewide partners on all health-related issues
  • Analyze data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement in refugee health in Tennessee
  • Coordinate with resettlement providers to promote refugee health

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Masters’ degree in Public Health or related field preferred
  • Experience in the field of refugee resettlement preferred

Other Skills or Requirements:

  • Strong administrative and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn trauma-informed practices
  • Ability to analyze data and apply results for the development of intervention strategies
  • Extensive knowledge of the field of public health
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to differences in culture
  • Effective interpersonal and other communication skills to build relationships and advocate for the health needs and concerns of the refugee community
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of clinical issues related to conditions commonly found in new refugee arrivals
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, scientific research, databases, and other systems
  • Knowledge of confidentiality standards and ability to maintain protected and private health information
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel out of town as needed
