General Statement of Responsibilities:

A Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining financial procedures and confirming financial compliance through preparation of a company’s reports and statements.

Staff Accountant will manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, prepare and enter general ledger.

Finance & Accounting

  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of accounting functions.
  • Support Programs Department with financial processes from budgeting to closing wishes.
  • Review and approve donation batches that have integrated to NetSuite (financial system) from Raiser’s Edge (donor processing system).
  • Review check request for proper coding and approvals.
  • Record and process monthly purchase card payment.
  • Set up all vendors.
  • Prepare bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Review trial balance for accuracy and completeness.
  • Record and posts journal entries for monthly financial activity.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reporting package including monthly variance report.
  • Respond to inquiries from chapter staff.
  • Coordinate information and documents for annual audit process and 990.
  • Prepare chapter’s audit workbooks and 990 portal and is point person for all audits.
  • Assist with creating custom reports and queries in NetSuite, and/or Excel, as requested.
  • Lead month-end close process in a timely manner. 
  • Identify ways to improve processes to be more efficient and effective.
  • Perform other job-related duties, as assigned.
  • Perform and execute annual employee time study.  

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required.
  • Minimal 2 years of experience in accounting and/or financial reporting is required.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications required, including demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience in Raiser’s Edge and NetSuite is strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of nonprofit organizations strongly preferred.
