Job Summary

Job Responsibilities

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, review, and/or reconcile monthly transactions related to all aspects of the accounting process (Bank, AP, Fixed Assets, Debt, etc.)
  • Process bi-weekly payroll through external payroll provider, reconcile benefits and post related journal entries
  • Maintain accurate accounting records for the agency
  • Assist in preparation of internal and external financial reports and projections
  • Assist with annual independent audit and other periodic audits
  • Participate in development and enforcement of fiscal policies and procedures
  • Ensure all internal control standards, processes and documentation are followed]
  • Make recommendations on improving departmental processes in collaboration with team members and management
  • Serve as backup for other team members as needed

Qualifications

Required Qualifications/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive accounting experience working in a fast-paced environment and 1 year of payroll experience
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) especially as it relates to nonprofit entities
  • Experience with electronic computerized financial record-keeping and advanced Excel skills
  • Ability to exercise discretion, have independent judgment and initiative, and be able to work in a confidential environment
  • Team oriented with the ability to work effectively with internal and external customers
  • Effective communication, excellent organizational ability and strong problem-solving skills
  • Able to multi-task and prioritize work effectively to meet deadlines
  • Must be analytical and detail oriented
  • Valid Tennessee Driver’s License and automobile liability insurance

 Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Paylocity and/or MIP software
    Experience with non-profit business operations and fund accounting
