Job Summary
Catholic Charities of TN is in search of a part time school counselor. This position would work from August to May.
Job Responsibilities
The School Counselor will provide counseling services to students and their families; conduct groups and workshops that respond to the needs of the students; provide appropriate and timely feedback to referring faculty members, principals and involved community resources; provide information and referral services; and submit accurate, timely reports.
Qualifications
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
1. Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related field. 2. Experience working with children in a family setting. 3. Possess or working toward license in Social Work or related field from the State of Tennessee (e.g., LCSW, LMFT, LPC-MHSP) is strongly preferred.
OTHER SKILLS
1. Knowledge of human behavior and ability to use various methods and techniques of crisis counseling with children and their families.
2. Ability to relate to and work with emotionally upset individuals.
3. Effective interpersonal skills.
4. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
5. Ability to exercise good judgment, courtesy, and tact in dealing with the public and staff.
6. Ability to plan and organize work and follow tasks through to completion.
7. Ability to work well under pressure and/or meeting deadlines.
8. Ability to handle confidential information with extreme professionalism.
9. Flexibility in delivery of services to meet the needs of the clients (i.e., telehealth sessions if schools need to close.)
10. Successful completion of criminal background screening
