Job Summary
Owned and operated by dedicated volunteers who wish to support the mission and vision of Ascension Saint Thomas, proceeds from the Gift Shop, located within Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital, benefit the Ascension Saint Thomas Foundation helping to improve the lives of those served by our healthcare ministry. The Sales Associate contributes to the overall success of the Gift Shop, helping to create an environment of hope and healing for patients and families served by Ascension Saint Thomas.
Job Responsibilities
Sales Associate is responsible for the operation of the nonprofit Gift Shop located within Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital. Daily activities and tasks include:
- Greeting and receiving customers in a welcoming manner
- Providing outstanding hospitality and service to all guests
- Helping to increase sales through engagement of customers, suggestive selling and sharing product knowledge
- Responding positively to customers’ inquiries and requests
- Managing financial transactions including operation of cash register and credit card processor
- Delivering flowers and Gift Shop orders to onsite hospital patient rooms
- Assisting with inventory, including receiving and stocking merchandise
- Maintaining a clean, organized and visually appealing environment
Qualifications
Skills:
- Excellent verbal communication skills and a friendly demeanor
- Willingness to learn all aspects of a retail environment
- Organized with excellent attention to detail
- Dependable, trustworthy and able to work independently
- Flexible, positive and eager to help others
- Capable of performing basic math skills
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in retail environment preferred
