Job Summary

Turnip Green Creative Reuse is seeking to hire a part-time Reuse Support Specialist who will be trained and will support both aftercare education programs and in the Reuse Center. The Reuse Support Specialist will be a floater in both programs and will be responsible for spreading our mission of “fostering creativity and sustainability through reuse.”

People of color and LGBTQIA+ teachers are encouraged to apply. Spanish or Arabic language fluency is a plus.

Job Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

  • Take in material donations in the Reuse Center from individuals and businesses and organize using TGCR’s material processing guidelines.

  • Assist in ensuring the sales floor is clean and organized.

  • Leading a group of 10 – 15 K-4 grade students through all aftercare activities, including meal-time, physical activity, homework help, collaborative projects, and individual art.

  • Support creativity kit making by collecting materials in the Reuse Center, organizing materials and assembling kits.

  • Communicate with the Diversion Manager and Program Manager on tasks each week.

  • Support other Reuse Center and Education operations at Turnip Green Creative Reuse as needed.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Work Ethic:

  • Teaching experience in aftercare or public schools

  • Preferred customer service experience

  • Punctual and devotes energy to students when working in aftercare program

  • Working collaboratively with a team

  • Flexible and willing to take on program responsibilities as needed

  • Creative with reusable materials

  • Passion for the environment, art, education, and community engagement

  • Clear and constant communicator

  • Prepared and forward-thinking

  • Consistent and reliable

  • Strong organizational and communication skills

  • Maintain a positive attitude and focus on customer satisfaction in a fast-paced environment

  • Patient, empathetic, and understanding of students, fellow teaching artists, TGCR staff and members, and other members of our community

  • Works well on a team, strengthens community, and furthers our mission

  • Accepting and respectful of all demographics and lifestyles

  • Can lift 50 pounds
