Job Summary

Position Summary:  The Resource Coordinator, 211 contributes to the efforts of United Way of Greater Nashville (UWGN) by supporting the 2-1-1 program so that UWGN continues to serve the local community by connecting callers to the necessary resources to meet their needs.  This position assists the 2-1-1 Senior Manager by ensuring the consistency and accuracy of the 2-1-1 database so that the Contact Center staff can make valid referrals to callers and so that UWGN can continue to make a positive impact on Middle Tennessee’s most vulnerable populations. Primary Roles and Responsibilities

  • Researches, gathers, and analyzes information about organizations and community services using print literature, the Internet, telephone interviews, site visits and community forums
  • Narrows down information collected into key points and inputs the entry or series of entries that accurately reflect the organization’s structure and services
  • Prepares descriptions about organizations and services for entry into the database utilizing the proper protocols and conforms to national Alliance of Information & Referral Systems (AIRS) standards
  • Utilizes the AIRS/INFO LINE Taxonomy of Human Services, a national classification system for health and human services, to appropriately index database records
  • Contacts agencies annually or as needed to add, update, and remove resources to ensure the accuracy of the database
  • Assists volunteers/interns and the 2-1-1 Senior Manager with restructuring resource records
  • Communicates important database changes and updates to the 2-1-1 Contact Center to make sure that everyone has current and consistent information
  • Responds, investigates, and follows up with 2-1-1 Contact Center regarding changes, questions, and/or concerns about agencies and resources to ensure support for the frontline staff
  • Develops working relationships with agency staff from government, nonprofit and for-profit organizations to assist in maintaining awareness of and support for the resource database and to ensure that UWGN is promptly notified of changes to the services or structure of the organization
  • Represents UWGN’s 2-1-1 Contact Center at community fairs, meetings, and campaign events to promote the services of 2-1-1 to the community
  • Conducts presentations/trainings to community partners on how to utilize the 211 database as well as 211 Counts

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree
    • 1 or more years of relevant experience (Information & Referral field experience preferred)
    • AIRS Certification required within one year of hire at UWGN expense
  • Experience:
    • Generating reports and analyzing data: 1 year
    • Database entry: 1 year
    • Data collection through interviewing
    • Working with nonprofit organizations
  • Knowledge:
    • Health and Human Services
  • Skills:
    • Research
    • Written, oral, and technological communication
    • Ability to relate to people of varied economic, racial, ethnic & religious backgrounds
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel
  • Miscellaneous:
  • A valid Driver’s License & proof of insurance
