Job Summary
Consistent with the Christian mission and vision of the Tennessee State Alliance of YMCAs, and in cooperation with other YMCA staff, under the direction of the Senior Director of State Networks and Communication, the Regional Training Director will facilitate high quality learning experiences for YMCA staff in Tennessee. The Regional Training Director will manage in-person training events, develop and maintain strong business relationships, and be responsible for training design and implementation of YMCA learning, leadership, and organizational development initiatives.
Job Responsibilities
- Model the YMCA core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility
- Model and puts in practice behavior that supports inclusion and diversity
- Lead Training operations
- Manage all aspects of local Y-USA training events in accordance with Y-USA standards
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with YMCA leaders
- Assess training needs
- Identify and implement strategic solutions
- Host a minimum of four Regional Training Events each year In Tennessee. Responsible for all aspects of events, including, but not limited to:
- Planning
- Trainer recruitment
- Registration
- Communication and marketing
- Finance
- On-site management
- Manage revenue and expenses related to our operations
- Meet revenue and expense goals
- Process revenue and expense transactions
- Perform financial analysis and reporting
- Design and develop training curriculum in partnership with subject matter experts
- Plan, organize, and direct a wide range of training initiatives and projects
- Conduct engaging in-person and online learning experiences
- Serve as point of contact for all YMCA trainers in assisting with plans, goals and objectives
- Serve as a learning and career development coach for Y staff in their professional development
- Manage Association and Y-USA learning management systems

An enthusiastic personality with the desire to serve members, volunteers, guests, participants and staff to create a culture of service
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
- Must present a professional image and possess conflict resolution skills, and demonstrate sound judgment and initiative
- Must be detail oriented and highly organized with the ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information
- Strong verbal and written communications skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other software programs, as well as the ability to use most office equipment is required
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends on special occasions
- Ability to travel to multiple locations throughout the state of Tennessee on a regular basis
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Four year degree or a combination of life experience, work experience, and education that demonstrates the abilities to carry out the job functions and responsibilities.
- Minimum two years working in a non-profit environment or related field
