JOB SUMMARY

 

A TN State Grant position, reports to the Regional Housing Facilitator Supervisor with responsibility creating and expanding permanent supportive housing and housing services options for service recipients in support of the Creating Homes Initiative.  

Job Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

  1. State Liaison:
    1. Assist the State in creating and expanding permanent supportive housing and housing services options for service recipients.
    2. Effectively match state dollars with funding from other state/local/federal/private entities to maintain and increase the number of safe, affordable, quality, permanent supportive housing options in Region V.
    3. Work with the direction and support of the Director of Regional Housing Facilitators and in tandem with the CHI 2.0 Regional Substance Use Housing Facilitators to support the achievement of CHI goals and objectives. Regularly attend and participate in all scheduled CHI/CHI 2.0 and Regional Housing Facilitator in-person meetings, trainings, virtual meetings and conference calls, as scheduled by the Director of Regional Housing Facilitators or the State Director of Housing and Homeless Services.

  1. Maintain and Increase the number of Safe, Affordable, Quality, & Permanent supportive housing options for persons experiencing mental illness or co-occurring disorder in the assigned region:
    1. Develop a maximum number of housing options each fiscal year within assigned region
    2. Develop housing options within the assigned region based upon data-driven needs assessments and available funding for projects each fiscal year.
    3. Encourage collaborative partnerships in the assigned region for project developments
    4. Focus on the sustainment of current affordable housing options within the designated CHI region
    5. Contribute to capacity-building through service as a technical advisor to developers and organizations in the assigned region who with to build, renovate, or develop affordable housing projects/options.

  1. Recordkeeping:
    1. Records time on weekly timesheet.
    2. Submits quarterly reports to the State Director of Regional Housing Facilitators describing activities and successes on the 15th of the month following the end of each quarter.
    3. Submits semi-annual updates of housing options completed and funding amounts leveraged since the previous CHI database report no later than 31st of January and 31st of July each fiscal year.

    1. Collaborates with staff, members, and the community to gain the perspectives of others having diverse opinions, abilities, values, beliefs, perspectives, and ethnic or cultural backgrounds.
    2. Takes deliberate steps to increase own cultural competency by attending trainings, events, discussions, workshops, etc.

  1. Other duties as a Member of Park Center Staff:
    1. Attends required staff meetings. 
    2. Maintains good attendance in program and informs supervisor in advance of annual leave or other time off.
    3. Follows all Personnel Policies.
    4. Respond to all electronic and telephonic correspondence as soon as possible but no later than 48 hours after initial correspondence is received.
    5. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required and Master’s degree preferred in a social or behavioral science, business administration, or other related acceptable field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a position that includes Federal, State, or private foundations grant writing (preference for housing and housing support grants).
  • Experience preferred in monitoring, evaluating, planning, or coordinating grant funded programs.
  • This position requires frequent travel based on identified needs of the Creating Homes Initiative and its integral partners.
  • Passion, enthusiasm, and eagerness to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the CHI Regional Housing Facilitator
  • Strong desire to make a positive difference in the housing community for individuals experiencing mental illness or co-occurring disorders
  • Proven skill and ability to establish, nurture and sustain productive, collaborative relationships across community stakeholders at various levels
  • Proven experience in writing successful grants, proposals and applications for funding
  • Team player while having strong ability to work independently
  • Self-motivated, self-starter, self-driven, and self-directing
  • Outcomes focused and data-oriented
  • Proven experience in successfully partnering, developing, and participating in collaborative efforts that bring community stakeholders together to increase and enhance housing opportunities and associate support services for service recipients
  • Experience conducting assessments to identify current availability and unmet need for permanent housing and support services for persons experiencing mental illness or co-occurring disorder in the state of Tennessee.
  • Demonstrated ability to assertively seek out opportunities and collaborate with potential funding entities to leverage and secure funding to develop and preserve permanent supportive housing options for persons experiencing mental illness or co-occurring disorder in local communities.
  • Possesses the interpersonal skills and professional knowledge to address and combat housing discrimination for persons in substance use recovery, often referred to as “Not In My Back Yard” (NIMBY) issues, that threaten the fair housing rights of persons experiencing mental illness or co-occurring disorder residing in Tennessee neighborhoods or discrimination in the workplace.
  • Current and maintained Valid driver’s license
  • Professional communication skills.
  • Ability to work with people with mental illness and co-occurring disorder

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 

  • Able to move or lift over ten pounds regularly.
  • Regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk bend, kneel, stoop, crawl and climb
  • Visual ability includes distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision depth perception & ability to adjust focus.
