Job Summary
The Regional Development Manager is responsible for advancing BTCM’s organization-wide development efforts, with a focus on cultivating and stewarding monthly giving programs and engaging small to midsize supporters. This role involves serving as a regional ambassador for Bless the Children Ministries in two to three cities, working to increase financial support to meet ministry fundraising goals while fostering meaningful, transformational relationships with supporters.
S/he will invite partners to deepen their involvement through giving, sharing, learning, serving, and praying, helping them connect more deeply with BTCM’s mission. This is an entrepreneurial position requiring a self-motivated, internally-driven individual who thrives in taking initiative.
Success in this role will come from establishing a vibrant, long-term constituency of engaged BTCM supporters within the designated region.
Job Responsibilities
Key 1-Year Results
- Meet with BTCM sponsors, annual givers (<$5,000), and key stakeholders. Get to know them, their experience with BTCM, and BTCM’s relational ministry culture.
- Develop and execute a strategy to attract new monthly donors and annual gifts under $5,000 to support organization-wide fundraising goals. Explore how to effectively utilize BTCM champions corporate partnerships, and both large and small group events.
- In partnership with the Executive Director and development team, recruit 40 new monthly sponsors and raise $50,000 in new annual gifts (primarily under $5,000).
Organization-Wide Responsibilities
- Fundraising Strategy: Partner with the Executive Director and development team to design and implement the organization-wide fundraising vision, strategy, and plan.
- Events & Campaign: Collaborate with the team to help design and implement large-scale events giving campaigns, and engagement activities for all BTCM supporters.
- Monthly & Annual Support Cultivation & Retention: Lead efforts to attract new annual supporters (<$5,000) and monthly givers. Refine and oversee engagement and retention strategies.
- Trip Recruitment: Assist with recruiting supporters for mission trips and internships to Uganda. Strengthen supporter relationships by joining and/or being the staff lead on one trip annually.
Regional Responsibilities:
- Cultivation & Stewardship: Drive regional execution of organization-wide fundraising strategy. Set regional fundraising goals, serve as the point of contact for regional supporters, build relationships, and ensure they feel valued and connected. Create personalized opportunities for deeper involvement through giving, sharing, learning, serving, and praying.
- Champion Development: Recruit and develop ministry champions (passionate supporters) within these regions. Provide guidance and training to champions, empowering them to effectively execute fundraising efforts and deepen relationships with donors in their areas.
- Outreach Strategy: Lead the planning and execution of outreach initiatives with champions in your area, which can include hosting large and small group events, depending on area goals and where there is champion ownership.
- Local Partnerships: Build relationships with businesses and churches to strengthen local support and increase fundraising opportunities.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Reporting & Data Management: Regularly report on fundraising results, events, and donor engagement. Maintain accurate donor records in Salesforce and use data to drive strategies.
- Staff Engagement: Attend weekly development meetings, staff meetings, devotions, and the annual staff retreat to stay connected with the team and organizational priorities.
- Discipleship & Connection with Uganda: Foster deeper connections with BTCM’s mission by going to Uganda and engaging more deeply with the cause. Become a part of the BTCM family.
- Innovation and Passion Projects: Invest in passion-driven initiatives that align with BTCM’s mission, using your unique gifts and talents to explore creative strategies, develop new donor engagement ideas, or design innovative approaches to advance the cause and expand impact.
Qualifications
- Personal confession of faith in Jesus Christ and commitment to the mission, vision, and culture of BTCM.
- 5+ years of fundraising experience is strongly preferred.
- Established track record of taking initiative with strong organizational skills, including time management.
- Experience working with a CRM, preferably Salesforce.
- Exhibits warmth and strong emotional intelligence.
- Excellent networking ability.
- Natural inviter, cultivator of community, and developer of people.
- Excellent oral, written, and public communication skills.
- Willing and able to travel; overnight and at least one international trip annually required.
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field. A master’s degree is a plus.
- International experience and cross-cultural skills are preferred.
