Job Summary

Consistent with the Christian mission and vision of the YMCA of Middle TN, and in cooperation with other YMCA staff, under the direction of the Regional HR Director the Recruiting Specialist is responsible for providing direct recruiting and hiring support to SAS employees while maintaining confidentiality of all employee information. The Recruiting Specialist is responsible for other administrative processes as determined by the Center. These duties may be related to, but not limited to new hire on-boarding, training inventory and staff development plan and DHS file & SAS Department support.

Job Responsibilities

  • Must be able to understand, believe in and champion the School Age Services Program
  • Must be able to create a climate for professional growth
  • Builds applicant database by researching and contacting community services organizations, colleges, employment agencies, media, and internet sites, providing organization information, opportunities, and benefits; making presentations; maintaining rapport
  • Post job postings on local community websites
  • Organize and plan job fairs at local YMCA’s; Represent YMCA in Job Fairs and other hiring opportunities within Middle Tennessee
  • Analyze and review applications and resumes using the Talent Acquisition Console
  • Provide weekly or as needed staffing updates as well as monthly/year end reporting to operations
  • Coordinate with Program Specialist and Area Coordinators to determine staffing needs
  • Schedule, screen and conduct interviews for potential candidates
  • Responsible for making offers of employment to potential employees
  • Recommend candidates for appropriate positions and make introductions to direct supervisors
  • Collect and compile new hire paperwork from potential applicants and submit to Human Resources; Verify new hire paperwork to ensure all forms are completed and acceptable documentation is provided.
  • Notify Executive Director and Human Resources of any human resource policy violations
  • Must be able to maintain open communication and create a climate of trust and mutual respect
  • Ensure that all staff members have access to the tools/resources needed to fulfill their positions
  • Contributes to team success
  • Attend HRC Cabinet meetings and related trainings
  • Serve as a back-up for answering phones, processing mail, stocking and organizing office supplies
  • In partnership with the Training Specialist ensures that staff is knowledgeable and receiving training opportunities
  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions

Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community

  • Must present a professional image and possess conflict resolution skills, and demonstrate sound judgment and initiative
  • Must be highly organized with the ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other software programs, as well as the ability to use most office equipment is required
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Bachelor’s Degree (Preferred)
  • Five years’ work experience in hiring and recruiting is required; human resource experience required
  • Strong public speaking and group facilitation skills

Certifications Required:

  • Before start of 1st shift: New Hire Orientation training
  • Within two weeks of hire or before 1st shift with children (whichever comes first): Basic CPR/ First Aid/ AED
