Job Summary
Description
Assists nursing, teaching and rec therapy staff by performing the following duties.
Job Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Maintains, cleans, and sanitizes all Nursing Center equipment and treatment spaces consistent with health and safety standards.
- Assists Recreational therapists with maintaining organized treatment spaces as needed.
- Provides support and assistance to Recreational therapists with daily therapeutic play activities and group sessions.
- Collaborates with Recreational therapists and provides input in the development of therapeutic play activities.
- Assists children in therapeutic activities goals as written by Recreational therapist.
- Assists Recreational therapists and nurses with transfers and ambulation of children.
- Assists Recreational therapists and nurses with transfers and ambulation of children. Reports all changes or observations of children’s condition to nurse.
- Develops and maintains a constructive and ongoing rapport with children and parents.
- Leads daily group therapy sessions when Recreational therapist is not present for any reason.
- Leads group Bible study and/or prayer as assigned.
- Assists Recreational therapists during therapeutic outings, special guest/volunteer visits, and special events at the Nursing Center.
- Assists in productions for Skilled Nursing and Equip children to perform.
- Reinforces behavior modification programs.
- Documents daily activities in respective groups on daily notes home.
- Assists with personal care needs including assistance with diaper changes/toileting along with providing hygiene or grooming assistance to patients.
- Assists children during meal and nap times.
- Don/Doff all assistive equipment and devices.
- Attends meetings and participates in other activities to promote professional growth.

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); related experience and/or training in an outpatient therapy facility preferred.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer skills and the ability to learn new software and web-based applications such as electronic medical records.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations
CPR certification required.
