Job Summary
The Reading Teacher will be responsible for strengthening the operations of Preston Taylor Ministries (PTM) that provides significant opportunities for involved children to experience “joy-filled friendships” and to pursue their “God-inspired dreams.” Embracing PTM’s Christ-centered mission, the Reading Teacher, will represent PTM to PTM children and their families, volunteers, potential volunteers, and supporters. He or she will do this by demonstrating a love for God that is evident in his or her lifestyle whether or not he or she is at PTM.
This is a part time 8 hr/wk position that is employed during the school year.
Job Responsibilities
Roles and Responsibilities
- Increase Reading Fluency and Comprehension Skills in PTM Student
- Build Students reading skills in a small group setting
- Create and Submit lesson plans to the Literacy Director
- Lead behavior management within the classroom and assist Site Directors during program hours.
- Attend professional development seminars led or coordinated by the Literacy Director
- Screening and Assessments
- Perform assessments quarterly to provide measurements for reading skills.
Qualifications
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Knowledge and ability to teacher Reading Fluency and Comprehension
- Knowledge of assessing and interpreting reading data
- Behavior Management Skills
Preferred Skills
- Bachelors in Education preferred
